Goal: Add at least 2 different lists to your site

Thursday - Lesson 11:

Lists

Readers love lists because it helps them focus on what you want them to know without overloading them with text.

What list can YOU make for your site that will engage your readers?

Let's learn how to add and change a list.  First, check out a few examples:

my favorite recipes:

SMOOTHIE POPS

My very favorite summer snack!  Just make a healthy smoothie, add plenty of fresh or frozen berries, and pour into a popsicle mold.

chocolate fruit

Melt chocolate, stirring every 30 seconds. Cut fruit into bite size pieces and dip in the melted chocolate.

garlic knots

Shape dough into small knots and sprinkle with garlic powder and parmesan cheese.  Bake and then serve with marinara sauce.

EXAMPLE LIST #2

My favorite craft supplies:

Colored Pencils

Embroidery Floss

Fabric

Watercolor Paints

Clay

Origami Paper

What will your list be about?

It can be a list of favorites, a how-to list, a list of supplies, a list of products you will sell in your business, a list of services you provide in your business, and many more.

Here's how to start a list:

  1. Click on ADD

  2. Choose LISTS & GRIDS

  3. Scroll down until you see a list template you like.

  4. Click on it to add it to your site.

After you've chosen a list template:

  1. Click on one of the photos to highlight it.

  2. Click CHANGE IMAGE

  1. Choose MEDIA FROM WIX.

  2. UNSPLASH also has free photos you can explore and add.

  1. Search for an image that goes with your topic.

  2. Once you find a great image, click CHOOSE IMAGE.

  3. Change all the photos in your list.

  4. Of course, you can always click UPLOAD MEDIA to upload your own photos.

Change the text associated with each picture:

  1. Highlight the text and type what you'd like it to say

  2. You can change the font, size, color, etc.

Phipps Conservatory

1.

The Carnegie Science Center

2.

The Cathedral of Learning

3.

Of course, you can also add a list that does not include photos, only text.  This is a great option for something like "My Top 5 Favorite Places To Visit in Pittsburgh".
